The holder has to make a clean catch and place the ball on perfect timing. The kicker has to kick the ball in the right place and guide it through the uprights. The defenders have to do their best to throw off the timing and time their jumps to go for the block. A lot of action is taking place in a short amount of time.
When the kicker makes contact with the ball, all the eyes in the stadium are focused on where the ball is going. Is the crowd going to erupt with joy of a made kick? Are the players on the team going to grab their heads with dread if the kick goes off course? This is part of the excitement of the game of football.
