Everything could be going along fine. You turn on your computer and you pull up a letter. You notice that your printer is not all the way filled up with paper. You make the choice to crack open a new ream of paper and put it into your printer.
You go through all the motions to add more paper and you think everything is okay. You go to print and you hear the printer start to print and then it happens. The printer jams. The paper jams up in the printer and now you have to unclog it.
You don’t expect it to be a show stopper. In the past, you might have removed the paper jams without an issue and you are quickly back to business. This time it is different. You remove the paper jam, but the message does not go away. Something is wrong.
You go back and look again to make sure that you removed everything. It didn’t seem like a big deal. What else could be going on? You open up your favorite internet browser and start to search. You input your printer make and model number and then the information starts to roll in.
The printer that you have purchased seems to have a recurring problem. Clearing your paper jam might not be as simple as you thought. It might all start coming back. Did you buy the printer when it was on clearance? Your eyes scan the internet to see post after post about people running into the same issue. Is the sensor failing? Are you going to need to replace the fuser? You start searching online for the parts and you see the big prices. The machine is not even old, but you have to think about scrapping it.
In the past, it might have been really easy to locate places that would focus on printer repairs, but now, it might be tougher to locate a place that will take on the task. Are you just going to start searching for a new model of printer? Are you going to take a chance and try to make the repairs yourself?
